What is Dokploy
Dokploy is an open-source, self-hostable PaaS for deploying and managing applications, databases, and Docker Compose services on your own infrastructure. It provides a web interface for deployments, domains, SSL, backups, monitoring, logs, and server management.
Overview
Dokploy provides a PaaS-style interface for deploying applications and databases on VPS, bare-metal servers, and other infrastructure you control. Applications can be deployed from Git providers, Docker registries, or Docker Compose files, with support for multiple build types including Docker, Nixpacks, Heroku Buildpacks, and Paketo Buildpacks. Dokploy uses Docker and Traefik for container and networking management and provides features such as automatic SSL, custom domains, zero-downtime deployments, preview deployments, backups, real-time monitoring, deployment logs, scheduled jobs, multi-server support, and API access. It is available as free self-hosted open-source software or as Dokploy Cloud, where Dokploy manages the control plane while applications continue running on the user's servers.
Who should and shouldn't use it
- You want a self-hosted PaaS for deploying applications and databases.
- You want a web UI instead of managing every Docker deployment manually.
- You want to run workloads on your own VPS or infrastructure.
- You want Docker Compose support alongside standard application deployments.
- You want to avoid per-deployment or per-seat fees with the self-hosted version.
- You need features such as automatic SSL, backups, monitoring, logs, and multi-server support.
- You want a fully managed application hosting platform where you do not manage the underlying servers.
- You do not want to manage your own infrastructure when using the self-hosted edition.
- You need a Kubernetes-based deployment platform rather than Docker and Traefik.
- You only want a simple static-site host and do not need infrastructure management features.
